API Plan02

Product recirculation from pump discharge to seal through a flow control orifice.

Required Media Characteristic-

  • Clean fluids with low temperatures and higher specific heat such as water

  • Can be used in some suspensions and solidifying fluids

Feature -

  • Does not need any external piping.

  • Used in relatively low speed pumps is used.

  • Cooling water or low temperature steam can be used in the seal chamber cooling jacket to decrease seal chamber temperature.

  • Normally is used along with a jacketed seal chamber. It can also be used for tapered seal chambers, especially for slurries.

  • Clean and Non Polymerizing fluid

  • Moderate temperature

  • Media should not contain abrasive 

Feature –

  • It is default plan in all seals

  • Prevents product from vaporizing by maintaining positive pressure above vapour pressure.

  • It is self venting plan

  • If  pressure  difference  between  discharge and stuffing box is less then we prefer plan 13

  Volute of a centrifugal pump is the casing that receives the fluid being pumped by the impeller As liquid exits the impeller it has high kinetic energy and the volute directs this flow through to the discharge.  As the fluid travels along the volute it is joined by more and more fluid exiting the impeller but, as the cross sectional area of the volute increases, and velocity is gradually reduces.
